Monday 4th October Pisa, Italy

Happy Birthday Kelly
Buongiorno, ciao, salute ! from Pisa. Above picture is our hotel which is ideally situated for the Cathedral and Tower and in fact all of the historic sites of Pisa. As we are not used to the noise of a city the song for the day yesterday was Neil Diamond's It's a Beautiful Noise
This building and one below are in Piazza Dei Cavalerie, 2 minutes from hotel

The Baptistery of The Pisa Cathedral all part of the "miracle square"
Hey presto it's the Tower. Absolutely amazing.

Tower and part of Cathedral
We walked up to the top of the tower and especially near the bottom as you walk up the spiral staircase it felt like being on a rolling ship. There are 300 steps.

This is the last few steps up to the top and very narrow

The Giardino Scotto, just over the other side of the River Arno which runs through Pisa
You can walk along the top of these walls

We had a great day exploring parts of Pisa including the Tower which is absolutely amazing and much bigger than we had realised. Luckily the rain shower was while we were in the tower and cathedral ! We walked for another couple of hours in the afternoon down to the river Arno and surrounding area. After dinner which was eaten outside as nice warm evening we walked back up to the tower. Nice to see it after dark and with only a handful of tourists about. Song for the day of course is Frankie Vaughan's If I Was a Tower of Strength.

  4. Hi both. You are in one of our favourite areas. Do you plan to visit the walled city of Lucca where Elton John has been known to play in the piazza. If you don't know it it is well worth a visit and you can walk right around the walls.
Did'nt follow your last blog but will this time now work is a bit more organised!
    Have a great time

  5. Is it me, the Harris photography or the effects of the local hooch, but everything seems to be leaning in Pisa.
Possibly cos I'm still visually challenged.

Linda surprised Sue is walking so much in the absence of distant waterfalls.

    Keep taking the Grappa

    Love
